A thousand crystals one by one
Glisten in the morning sun
Refracting every golden beam
In vivid colours of a dream
Something is scratching overhead It must have claws the size of knives
On the ceiling above my bed
Skipping left then scrambling right
In the middle of the night
Razor teeth and piercing eyes
What it is I dread to know
I fear the day it comes below
If I were trapped in a blizzard
With everyone I ever knew
I’d wish them all away
So I could spend it just with you
Calling out to God
The world is in despair
The human race cannot be trusted
It’s time to show you care
My heart would love to make a difference,
But my mind won’t climb the hill.
Forever dwelling on the can’t do,
Disregarding the can and will.
You wait for love You watch couples You wonder You feel your youth You note the seasons But you’ll soon find
But it won’t come
Spend each day
Longing for someone
Making plans
Exchanging kisses
Holding hands
What you’re doing wrong
Seek hidden meaning
In every song
Slipping away
Another lonely
Idle day
Come and go
Another year of
Maybe tomorrow?
Your special one
As sure as Moon
Gives way to Sun
Floating through space Along for the journey Dancing in tandem A bluey-green marble
A bluey-green marble
Circling a great big
Bright orange fireball
A grey rocky speck
with a face on the front
But no body or neck
Through the abyss
Brush past each other
But never do kiss
And companion speck
Glide round the star-studded
Discotheque
Shining bright Ancient tool
In the night
Oh star above!
Thou do delight
So minuscule
Wondrous beacon
Glistening jewel
Typewriters click for the very last time in the morning.
Silence prevails for those not heeding the warning.
Lies and deceit tarnish masters of trade,
Mask horrible truths they tried to evade.
Teardrops quench the thirsty ground
Each jewel landing without a sound
In the vacuum of forgotten souls
Sharing remorse while growing old
Those of us where it’s apparent
There’s not a single shred of talent
Try and try to no avail
But glory echoes in each fail
Don’t you ever wonder
As you sit and ponder
How on Earth your being came
And who’s the one that is to blame?
Trails on a rain-soaked verge,
A dozen caravans converge.
They come from places far and wide,
A dozen snails side by side.
So where was the sunshine?
Such a dismal grey.
So where was the laughter?
Such a melancholy day.
Every minute spent awake Every minute spent awake
Is a minute further from tomorrow
Every minute spent awake
Is a minute further from sorrow
Is an escape from what is real
Every minute spent awake
Is an escape from how I feel
